The Samtambooks book project invites children and parents to a meeting with a book that asks the most important question: what to do if everything around you suddenly changes?
"The Unemployed Tree" is a warm, funny, and utterly courageous story about a tree who one day decides to quit his job at the park and venture into the big, unknown world. Beyond the park's gates, adventures, new friends, and attempts to figure out how to move on with his life suddenly changed await him. In 2026, the book was included in The Braw Amazing Bookshelf, a prestigious selection of the best books chosen by the jury of the Bologna Fair.
I wrote a book Sveta Ben — singer, songwriter, actress, poet, and theater director from Belarus, founder of the Kartonka Theater. The illustrations were created by a Berlin artist. Lina Hesse, whose drawings always leave a lot of room for imagination.
After the reading, there will be a master class: using paper, scissors, and imagination, each participant will grow their own tree, one that has never existed before, and create its story.
