A new translation of Franz Kafka's famous late short story, "The Search of a Dog," has just been released by Nosorog Publishing House. The translator will introduce the book and discuss the mysteries and paradoxes in this and other Kafka stories featuring animals as protagonists.
From the publisher's announcement: Written in 1922, this text dates back to Kafka's late period and is structured as a quasi-scientific investigation. A dog explorer attempts to discover the origins of food and the nature of the "dog people." The explorer strives to piece together a complete picture of the world, but his quest is not rewarded with knowledge, instead leading to extreme exhaustion. However, this very moment proves to be a turning point for the story's hero. He abandons scientific research and turns to the mystery of music.
