New authors are knocking loudly on the back door of Russian literature: open up! They've said goodbye to the past and to their homeland (some of them), their status is temporary – both legally and in the broader sense, on planet Earth; they have nothing left and there's no place for them anywhere. But from this loss, they're carving out new energy and meaning.
You'll meet with Vladimir Sevrinovsky, the author of the already-smash hit "The Life of Dmitry Markov," Igor Zolotarev (whose "Criminal Case" infuriated Dmitry Bykov, as he noted in his review), Sorin Brut ("A Novel of Unsent Letters"), and Evgenia Ursu ("Train to Bali," online). We'll definitely discuss the novel "Male State"; the publisher is hiding the author's name with asterisks until further notice, but that won't prevent us from discussing the novel itself.
