Vladimir Sotnikov is a writer and screenwriter. He was born in Belarus, into a family of rural teachers. He graduated from the Gorky Literary Institute, and a creative seminar under the direction of Vladimir Makanin. His stories, novellas, and short stories have been published in the magazines Yunost, Oktyabr, Znamya, Continent, Yasnaya Polyana, Novy Svet, and Berlin. Berega. He is the author of numerous children's adventure stories and prose for adults: the novels Pokrov, Prolitaya Voda, Ulybka Emmy, Kholochye, She, as well as short stories and short stories. He is the screenwriter for the film based on A. Bitov's novel Uletayushchiy Monakhov. He is the author of scripts for television series. He is a laureate of the Bunin Prize "For the philosophical capacity of artistic images." He teaches a prose workshop at the Free University. He is a member of PEN International and the Commonwealth of Russian-Speaking Writers in Germany. He lives in Germany.
