ARTISTS AGAINST the KREMLIN vol.1 is the first ever almanac of protest art from Russian-speaking artists.
The book ARTISTS AGAINST the KREMLIN vol.1 is a catalogue of the largest exhibition of protest art by Russian-speaking artists - Artists Against the Kremlin, which took place from August 3 to September 3, 2024 in the cultural center DeBalie, Amsterdam. This landmark event attracted the attention of leading European media and gathered more than 5 visitors.
The book includes images of the works in the exhibition, curatorial texts about the works, interviews with the artists, as well as stories about the challenges and creative solutions that the organizers faced in implementing this large-scale project.
The book is published in a print run of 1000 copies, contains 224 pages and comes in hardcover. Printed in the EU.

Berlin-based gallery All Rights Reversed supports protest art and promotes uncensored art. Its collection contains over 250 works and over the past year the gallery has organized 12 exhibitions across Europe, including its largest, Artists Against the Kremlin, in Amsterdam.
The Moscow Times is the oldest independent English-language publication that has been covering events in Russia since 1992, remaining free from censorship. In 2022, in response to the tightening of media legislation after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the editorial staff was forced to move to Amsterdam. On April 15, 2022, access to the Russian website of The Moscow Times was blocked in Russia. In 2024, the publication was given the status of "undesirable organization".

ARTISTS AGAINST the KREMLIN vol. 1 includes a catalogue of over 150 works, a history of the exhibition, curatorial texts, and immerses the reader in the personal stories of the artists through in-depth interviews.
The book features works by artists such as Nadya Tolokonnikova (Pussy Riot), Sasha Skochilenko, Pavel Krisevich, Linor Goralik, Slava Ptrk, “Party of the Dead”, Pomidor, Philippenzo, Artem Loskutov, Viktor Melamed, Mikhail Rai, Liza Pushkina, Vladlena Sandu, Sergey Karev and many others.
In 2024, independent artists in Russia face constant pressure from the security services: they are summoned for talks, threatened with searches. Many were forced to emigrate, and those who remained work underground, under constant risk of arrest. In exile, many cultural figures face financial difficulties, and artists who remained in Russia are forced to work for the drawer.
