Independent Russian literary magazine "Fifth Wave" www.5wave-ru.com founded in 2023 in Amsterdam by the famous writer and doctor Maxim Osipov.
The magazine is published quarterly and distributed worldwide in print and electronic formats.
"Since the beginning of the twentieth century, each generation of those for whom Russian is a native language has experienced its own catastrophe. The current generation has not escaped it either. The times of totalitarianism have returned to Russia: the number of victims of the regime and political prisoners is growing, Russia is waging a war of conquest in independent Ukraine, freedom of speech is sharply limited. Each catastrophe causes an outflow of active people from the country: the current wave of emigration has become the fifth in the last hundred years. And, just as it happened before, the need for uncensored printed publications is growing - it is felt by both writers and readers. This magazine is called upon to satisfy it, at least in part.
Our magazine is literary, not socio-political. We publish bright, talented works of various genres: poetry, prose, essays, lectures, interviews, art criticism articles, memoirs and much more - and not only on current issues.
Among our authors are people living both in Russia itself and beyond its borders, but they are all united by their rejection of war and totalitarianism, their love for Russian culture as part of European culture, their sense of personal involvement, responsibility for what is happening, and their desire to see Russia as a free, peace-loving country, no matter how unrealistic this desire may seem now.”
