Demyan Kudryavtsev was born in Leningrad, lived in Israel from the age of 19, studied philology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, was co-editor of the first Russian literary magazine on the Internet EYE. For many years, he was involved in the media business in Russia, in 2006-2012 he was the general director of the publishing house Kommersant, in 2015-2020 the owner of the newspaper Vedomosti.
He published his first book of poetry in 1991 in Jerusalem, his second, “The Practice of Russian Verse,” was published in 2002 in Moscow, followed by five more (the last, “The Defeat Zone,” was published in 2023 by Freedom Letters); the novel “Twins” (2008) was also published. He lives in Latvia.
