On July 22, 2025, a wonderful meeting took place, “Where do the pictures in the book come from?” with illustrator and author Anya Desnitskaya.
It was interesting to everyone, both big and small: how the visual concept of a book arises, why it is better to work with a prompt rather than “from your head”, which programs are convenient to use for drawing, how translations of books into different languages can differ.
Anya Desnitskaya's books have been translated into many languages and have been beautifully published in German by Gerstenberg Verlag.
Anya told a little about the history of the creation of her books - from the very first one, which became an absolute favorite hit, “Stories of an Old Apartment” (2017), to “Star” (2023), dedicated to all the moves and the hope of finding a new home.
Thanks to the large audience for interesting questions, such as:
"What does a beginning illustrator need?" Efficiency, patience, observation and good eyesight!
Thank you Bibliothek am Wasserturm for your hospitality!
Very soon we are expecting Anya’s new book about… bread!
