Kathryn Stockett's "The Walking Disaster Club" is the top literary release of this spring, and, according to the New York Times, of all of 2026. The long-awaited novel by the author of "The Help" was released in Russian by Yulia Navalnaya's One Book Publishing, concurrent with its world premiere in America.
The Walking Disaster Club is a novel about women fighting for their freedom, dignity, and well-being in the American South during the Great Depression. Funny and serious, beautifully written, it's a stunning, irresistible read.
At the meeting, we will discuss the novel with his translator Varvara Babitskaya, editor Kira Yarmysh, and production editor Anna Biryukova.
We welcome those who have read it and those who are just planning to attend. The book will be available for purchase at the meeting.
Admission is free, upon registration.
