MEET & READ. Reading meetings

There is nothing we value more than live communication, especially among books and about books.

That’s why our new project couldn’t help but be born – meet & read, a space for reading and communication!

We invite you to meet, read, and connect in Berlin's most unusual and charming locations. The project centers on books, reading, live encounters, and trust.

Being, talking and reading with living people is priceless and irreplaceable by anything.

There is so much “content” around us – but we want human encounters, and living words, and living recommendations on the path to new books and meanings.

Much can grow out of these encounters—new author, publishing, reader, and personal projects, helpful communities, new like-minded people, and simply a sense of community—"I'm not alone," a boost of inspiration and vitality. It's from moments like these that the cultural fabric we're all slowly weaving together is formed.

First meeting:

September 27, 14:00 PM – 16:00 PM

Immanuel Church

Immanuelkirchstr 1, 10405 Berlin

We read on the church benches, right in the altar and in the organ space on cushions!

Moderator Andrey Arkhangelsky, journalist and author

How does it all work? It's very simple:

🏰 1 hour of quiet reading in an incredible Berlin location + 1 hour of moderated book discussion

📚 Most importantly: bring a book, paperback or e-book, a comic, a magazine—whatever you're currently reading. The Berlin Fair strongly supports Russian-language publishers outside of Russia, so books from these publishers are highly welcome at the events! And no book-shaming.

🫶🏼 You can and even enjoy bringing a "hanging" book and leaving it on the special table at the entrance—for those who arrived spontaneously, bookless, or ready for new book discoveries. We recommend including a note with your name inside the book—to make it easier to find the owner and return it after the meeting.

💬 While reading, you can, without disturbing others, communicate, make new acquaintances, sit in thought, look at your neighbors' books, listen to music on headphones, exchange books

😊The second hour is dedicated to exchanging opinions and impressions under the unobtrusive guidance of the moderator—you can take the floor and talk about books. Each of you can become a living book navigator for others!

💧 Bring water and perhaps a snack. If possible, arrive on time and, if necessary, leave the room quietly.

📵 Using phones is not recommended

☝🏻Photography and video recording are permitted during the meeting. We may approach you for a short interview about the book you're reading. If you don't want this, please let us know at the entrance, and we'll put a special sticker on you.

😊😊 Come and bring your friends, it will be g-o-o-o-d!

Entry is free, but registration is required. A donation would be a great pleasure and will enable the Berlin Fair to continue its projects!
