"We caught a little voice-over bird..." A stand-up comedy by Viktor Shenderovich about Russian censorship and Russian satire, 18+

Viktor Shenderovich has been delivering this lecture at leading universities around the world for many years.

However, this is not a typical academic lecture, but a funny and somewhat terrifying stand-up routine by a renowned publicist and writer about the eternal confrontation between free Russian speech and the grim autocracy of various eras: from Peter the Great to the present day.

Portraits and stories, Pushkin and Nestor Kukolnik, eleven surviving copies of Radishchev, "Woe from Wit" and "The Suicide," the defeats and victories of the free Russian word, Bulgakov and Schwartz – and, finally, the history of the Russian 20th century in jokes and ditties!
