Vladimir Sorokin – the number one writer in the post-Soviet space, the author of eleven novels, as well as stories, short stories, theatre plays, film scripts and opera librettos. His books have been translated into more than 1 languages, and each of them becomes a major literary and social event.
From the universe "Day of the Oprichnik" until the new one "Fairy tales" — a distance of 20 years, during which the world has changed radically. But before it seemed that Sorokin was simply frightening the reader.
The novel "Fairy Tale" — a dystopian parable, charming and merciless.
In a brutal post-war world, cities are destroyed and poisoned by nuclear bombings, people survive in dugouts. Technological conveniences have been replaced by hunting, fishing and gathering.
The main fairytale character Ivan wants simple happiness: to return to the normal pre-war life, when all relatives are alive and their home is safe and sound. Will the fairytale space help to return the world lost forever? Or are his hopes doomed to crumble into post-apocalyptic ashes?
Only a book will give the answer.
You have a unique opportunity to understand everything together with the author!
Moderator: Nikolay Alexandrov, philologist and journalist.
